Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz want to make one thing very clear: they’re not the bad guys!

Brooklyn deepened his family feud over the holidays when he blocked his parents, David and Victoria, on Instagram after they tried to wish him well on Christmas. It was a strategic move to “protect” his mental health after his family had refused to respect his wishes. Over the summer, he asked them to stop contacting him directly and posting about him, telling them to get in touch via his lawyer instead.

In response to news of the legal notice, sources close to David and Victoria have insisted they’re trying to make amends and have invited their eldest son to important events amid the estrangement, such as the athlete’s knighthood. A source previously told People:

“David and Victoria have repeatedly asked Brooklyn and Nicola to meet and talk in order to move forward. … Of course [they] invited Brooklyn and Nicola [to his knighting and after-gathering]. They have always been invited to all family occasions or events, whether private or public.”

But now a new confidant close to Nicola is clapping back! They argued on Monday:

“The claim that Brooklyn and Nicola have been invited to all events and that David and Victoria have made honest efforts to mend things is untrue. Neither parents have reached out to Nicola in almost a year.”

Jeez.

This remains such a he said, she said situation. It’s sad to witness…
