Savannah Guthrie got to see the alleged ransom note sent following the disappearance of her mother, Nancy.
As we previously reported, TMZ revealed on Tuesday that they received a ransom note via email — just hours after Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he didn’t know of any ransom note or have a motivation for the abduction of the 84-year-old. According to the outlet, the note demanded millions in cryptocurrency be sent to a Bitcoin address. It also came with a deadline and a warning of “or else.”

Now, we are learning TMZ is not the only publication to receive a ransom note. The sheriff told CBS News on Tuesday that a local Arizona news station also got one the day before. He did not confirm which station received the ransom note. However, KOLD-TV — a CBS-affiliated television station in Tucson, Arizona — reported it received an email that “appears to be one of the alleged ransom notes,” which they forwarded to the sheriff’s office.
What did the ransom note say? Nanos shared that it contained specific details about the home and what Nancy wore that night, but he would not confirm the accuracy of the information or the legitimacy of the note. He just said that investigators analyzed the note and are taking it seriously:
“It’s like any piece of evidence. You give it to us, you give us a lead, we’re going to look at every aspect of that lead.”
The sheriff then revealed the FBI decided to share that note with Savannah, who is currently in Arizona with her family. She has not commented on it at this time.
