From Tier-3 College to Google: A Techie’s Inspiring Journey

Breaking barriers and proving that persistence pays off, software engineer Archy Gupta shared her remarkable journey from a tier-3 engineering college in Bhopal to securing a coveted role at Google.

Archy’s story began in 2017, when limited campus placements meant only service-based companies visited her college. Despite the odds, she believed bigger opportunities awaited. She grabbed every chance — whether on-campus or off-campus — often traveling across cities with nothing but determination.

By her final year, she landed a role in a service-based company, but she knew this was just the start. She paused to strengthen her fundamentals — problem-solving, databases, and computer science basics — not for grades, but for mastery.

Her preparation led to an internship at OpenText in Hyderabad. Though rejections followed and uncertainty loomed, she eventually converted the internship into a full-time role. From there, she explored data science and machine learning, but her passion remained software engineering.

In 2019, Archy faced her first Google interview. She didn’t succeed, but it motivated her to keep learning. More interviews and rejections followed, yet she treated each as a lesson. In 2020, she joined ServiceNow, where she built discipline by solving one DSA problem daily for nearly two years.

Finally, in June 2022, Google reached out again. After months of preparation and interviews, she received the long-awaited email: “Congratulations, you’re in.” Archy secured an L4 role at Google, proving that consistency and resilience can overcome any barrier.

Her story has inspired countless students and professionals, with many praising her dedication and perseverance. Archy summed it up best: “No shortcuts, no luck. Just years of consistency, faith, and showing up every single day.”
