Google’s Gemini Surpasses 750 Million Users, Closing Gap With ChatGPT

Google’s Gemini has surpassed 750 million monthly users, overtaking Meta AI but still trailing ChatGPT’s 810 million. The growth is driven by Gemini 3’s rollout, deeper integration across Google products, and new subscription pricing. Alphabet reported record $400 billion annual revenue, boosted by AI demand and infrastructure investments like the Ironwood TPU chip. Gemini’s rise cements its mass-market appeal, though the next challenge is sustaining revenue growth amid intense AI competition.

Google’s Gemini Surpasses 750 Million Users, Closing Gap With ChatGPT

Google’s AI chatbot Gemini has crossed 750 million monthly active users, marking a sharp rise in adoption over the past quarter. The milestone, revealed during Alphabet’s Q4 2025 earnings, positions Gemini among the most widely used consumer AI platforms globally.

Rapid Growth in User Base

Just a quarter ago, Gemini had around 650 million users, highlighting rapid expansion. The chatbot has now overtaken Meta AI (500 million users) but still trails ChatGPT, which analysts estimate reached 810 million monthly users by late 2025.

Powered by Gemini 3

The surge follows the launch of Gemini 3, Google’s most advanced model yet, delivering deeper, more nuanced responses, especially in Search’s AI mode. CEO Sundar Pichai called the rollout a “positive driver” for engagement across Google’s ecosystem.

Expanding Across Products and Pricing

Gemini is now integrated into Search, developer tools, and enterprise APIs, beyond its standalone app. To broaden appeal, Google introduced a budget subscription tier — Google AI Plus — at $7.99/month, complementing its free plan. Executives expect this to attract cost-conscious users over time.

Alphabet’s Strong Financial Quarter

Alphabet reported $400 billion in annual revenue for the first time, attributing part of the growth to AI demand. Google also unveiled its Ironwood TPU chip, designed to reduce reliance on Nvidia hardware. Pichai noted that Google’s AI models now process 10 billion tokens per minute via APIs, underscoring Gemini’s scale.

The Road Ahead

While competition in consumer AI remains fierce, Gemini’s rapid rise shows Google has successfully built a mass-market AI product. The challenge now lies in converting scale into sustained revenue growth, as rivals push their own models, pricing strategies, and developer ecosystems.
