Infosys Revises Work-from-Home Rules, Adds Stricter Conditions
Infosys has tightened its work-from-home rules, limiting extra WFH days to five per quarter. Employees must now spend at least 10 days a month in office, with exceptions only for medical needs. The move mirrors stricter policies at TCS and Wipro as the IT industry adapts to AI-driven changes.
Infosys has introduced tighter restrictions on its work-from-home (WFH) policy, aligning with similar moves by rivals TCS and Wipro. The Bengaluru-based IT giant has capped additional WFH allowances at five days per quarter, beyond the standard hybrid arrangement. Exceptions will only be granted in cases of serious medical needs, supported by documentation such as a doctor’s note.
Employees at job level 5 and below are now required to attend office at least 10 days per month, with a minimum stay of three hours per day. Managers have instructed teams to submit WFH requests through the company’s system well in advance, noting that approvals outside policy cannot be accommodated.
While Infosys clarified that up to 30 extra remote days may be granted for critical medical situations, the company emphasized no broader changes to its hybrid model. CEO Salil Parekh recently reaffirmed flexibility in employee engagement during a post-earnings briefing.
The stricter enforcement began on March 10, 2025, following the initial rollout of the return-to-office policy in November 2023. Rival firms have also tightened rules: Wipro now requires six office hours for three days a week, while TCS has linked variable pay to office attendance, allowing only limited WFH exceptions.
Industry experts suggest that shrinking project timelines and the rise of AI-driven delivery models are pushing IT companies to prioritize in-office collaboration. Analysts predict that by 2026, more firms may demand consistent office presence to maintain agility in workforce deployment.
