Vedanta Group founder and chairman Anil Agarwal has announced the heartbreaking loss of his son, Agnivesh Agarwal, who died at the age of 49 following a sudden cardiac arrest. The incident occurred while Agnivesh was recovering from a skiing accident at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, United States.
In an emotional post shared on social media platform X, Anil Agarwal wrote, “Following a skiing accident in the US, he was recovering well in Mount Sinai Hospital, New York. We believed the worst was behind us. But fate had other plans, and a sudden cardiac arrest snatched our son away from us.”
Agnivesh was reportedly showing positive signs of recovery after the accident, and the family had hoped he was out of danger. However, the unexpected cardiac event took his life, highlighting the unpredictable nature of health complications even during recovery.
The news has deeply affected the business community and those close to the Agarwal family. Anil Agarwal described the day as the “darkest of his life,” expressing the profound grief of losing a child. He also reflected on Agnivesh’s journey—from his roots in Patna to becoming a successful entrepreneur and chairman of Hindustan Zinc and founder of Fujairah Gold.
