Todd & Julie Chrisley DEFEND Controversial Performance On The Masked Singer: ‘It Was Our Time To Own It, To Move On From It’

Todd and Julie Chrisley have zero regrets about their time on The Masked Singer! Not even about that jaw-dropping final song choice!

In case you missed it, the reality stars were unmasked as the Croissants during the singing competition on Wednesday. Fans were outraged over the reveal, especially given that they picked the wildest song to perform right beforehand. They sang Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley, all while wearing prison costumes! WTF! We’ll give it to Todd and Julie! They definitely chose the most on-point song and outfits! Perezcious readers know the couple went to prison for fraud and tax evasion in 2023. The Chrisley Knows Best alums were to remain behind bars for many years, but Donald Trump pardoned them last May, which meant they left jail early.

With all that in mind, their song choice and reveal didn’t go over well for viewers. They called the show “disgusting” for giving them a platform! Yikes! See the performance (below):

What do Todd and Julie have to say following the controversy? They don’t seem to care! The television personalities told Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea on Friday that the performance was their way to “own” their story! Julie explained:

“It was our story. Everyone has a story and your story doesn’t have all good parts. I don’t care who you are. So I think it was our time to own it, to move on from it, to say, ‘OK, this was a part of our history, this was a part of our story. We lived through it, we survived it. And now we’re ready to move on.’”

Todd agreed, saying that performing Jailhouse Rock was a way to take control of the narrative from their haters again:

“I think for me, when I chose ‘Jailhouse Rock,’ it was me saying to the world, to the naysayers, ‘I’m going to get here before you get here. And you’re not going to hold me hostage over something that was horrific in our life. You’re not going to shame me for that. And I’m going to take possession of my own peace.’ And so we leaned into it at that point.”

They certainly did, for better or for worse! Although Julie and Todd got eliminated early, she said they “had an amazing time” and “can’t complain.” He added:

“We had a very nice time and we were surrounded by some wonderful people. Our team was great that was assigned to us. And Julie and I, it was the first thing in production that Julie and I had done without the kids. And so that was different. We had a great time, we had a lot of fun.”

They’re about to have more fun, too! If you were upset about Todd and Julie’s stint on The Masked Singer, well, you’re going to have to get used to seeing them on TV some more this year! Todd shared:

“We do have the new show coming out with our entire family. Julie’s got a cooking show … I’m doing another show with [our son] Chase [Chrisley], Julie’s doing a show with [our daughter] Savannah [Chrisley] — and then I’m going overseas to shoot a show for two weeks. 2026, we’re very blessed. 2026 is very busy.”

The Chrisleys aren’t going anywhere! No matter what people say about them! Reactions, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments!
