The government has strongly denied claims circulating on social media that the Union Budget 2026–27 was leaked on Telegram. The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) fact-check unit clarified that the images being shared are fake and digitally manipulated.
According to PIB, one of the viral images was actually from a previous budget document with the year altered, while another was completely fabricated and not linked to any official budget papers.
In its post on X, PIB urged citizens not to believe or forward unverified content, warning that such misinformation could mislead the public and cause unnecessary panic.
