Brooklyn Beckham was pushed to the brink.

For Christmas, Brooklyn gave his family worse than coal — he blocked them on social media! Oof! Apparently, he did so because his parents, David and Victoria, refused to respect his wishes to stop posting about him on social media and to only contact him via his lawyers amid their feud. He sent them a legal notice saying as much over the summer!

Now, sources are opening up about why Brooklyn felt this was necessary. Speaking to Radar Online on Monday, an insider said this unwanted contact and his parents’ decision to ignore “requests to stop” were tanking the aspiring chef’s mental health. Oh, no! The source explained:

“It had been leading to issues with his mental health… it was to protect himself.”

It must’ve been very hard to do, but mental health should always come first!

The insider claimed Brooklyn believes his parents still view him as a child and not the 26-year-old adult he is today, noting:

“Even the Christmas post by his dad was of Brooklyn as a child.”

It’s not all about Brooklyn, though. He’s also annoyed with the way his famous family is treating his wife, Nicola Peltz, and the narrative surrounding her amid this mess, an insider furthered:

“This narrative is so sexist and misogynistic, and he does not stand for his wife being vilified in this way. It’s a story as old as time: blame the woman for the man’s actions. It’s just deeply insulting.”

So, he’s taken what he can into his own hands to protect himself and his wife. Totally understandable!

Defending the soccer star and Spice Girls alum, the source said they are “desperately sad” about the estrangement and were devastated by this summer’s legal notice. Friends claim they tried to reach out to resolve things — but were then blindsided by the legal letter! Ouch. Now, they’re turning to social media to reach out… Too bad it’s backfiring.
